Building Bridges — Presentation and Book Signing

Wayne Johnson presented the background and will sign copies of his new illustrated book on the history of the first Missouri River bridge at Jefferson City built in 1896. This coffee table type book is full of rare photos of the original drawbridge that spanned the river. Get your copy at the Museum, or at the Research Center!

Jennie Phelps, Sr. Conservator with the Missouri State Archives, led this discussion and presentation of the proper ways to preserve scrapbooks, journals, books, photo-graphs, special documents and more at home and keep the family archives properly preserved.

Lori Franklin will teach the basics of cleaning and preserving cemetery stones. We will begin with class-room style instruction at the Hams Prairie Church, followed by hands-on work in the cemetery.

$10 Registration Fee Required
Supplies will be provided, plus cleaning kits will also be available for $35 if you wish to purchase one for your own project.

Learn about a young woman who lived through one of the hardest periods in American History — the Civil War. She kept an avid diary and parts of it will be shared in this session. Presented by Deby Thompson, Barbara Huddleston, and Haley Sylvia.
