“Crimes in the Kingdom of callaway 1835-1899”
Presentation and Book Signing
at the Callaway Public Library
Carolyn Branch has turned her talents for writing and history in a new direction and brings us stories of crimes in Callaway between 1835 and 1899. And there were many! Stories include: A gunfight in Portland, MO; tales of the Kessler family of Readsville; and a Fulton man shooting his wife during choir practice.
Please join KCHS on Monday, March 23 at the Library to hear Carolyn share these new stories about Crime in the Kingdom of Callaway. Books will be available for sale at the event, or may be purchased at the KCHS Research Center, 106 E. 4th St., Fulton.
No Registration Required. This is free and open to the public.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

Join former St. Louis Cardinal Charlie James and baseball fan and KCHS board member Don Soph for a look back in time to 1895 when the St. Louis Browns team played an exhibition game against the Fulton Stars. Charlie will also discuss life as a player in major league baseball.
$10 Fee includes lunch of hot dogs, chips, and Cracker Jack!

Quilt Barns and Paint Brushes
at the First Christian Church, Fulton
Margot McMillen will share stories and popular pioneer quilt designs from early days. Then attendees will get to design their own quilt pattern and paint it on a 6”x 6” wooden canvas to take with them (canvas and paints furnished).
This session is helping celebrate our America 250 focus.
