Our journey begins inside the historic Mokane Christian Church, where you'll receive a brief overview and delve into the church's intriguing history. With the guidance of local Mokane residents and dedicated KCHS volunteers, you'll hear captivating tales of Mokane's past and the remarkable individuals who shaped it.
What to Expect
After each tour, continue your exploration of Mokane's history at the Community Fellowship Church, located just across the street. Here, you can indulge in delicious desserts and ice cream for only $4 per person.
Meet the Pioneers
During the tour, you'll encounter remarkable pioneers like:
Col. Thomas Smith: The founder of Smith's Landing, an early settlement along the river.
William Nash Moore: A multi-talented farmer, carpenter, and local historian.
Patrick Ewing: A war veteran with intriguing life stories to share.
The Ramsey Family: Highlighting both black and white members, an integral part of Mokane's history.
Nancy Nash Holman: The third wife of Henry Holman, who will enlighten you about their unique story.
