KMOV-TV Report from Callaway County: Celia, a Slave, Pardoned

Melanie Johnson of KMOV Channel 4, St. Louis, travelled to Callaway County to interview our Historical Society Directors and see first-hand the farmstead where Celia was kept and ultimately murdered her owner. Celia did not have the same rights as a free white woman to defend herself with deadly force if molested. After 170 years, she has been vindicated with a pardon from Governor Mike Parson.
