Job Description
KCHS is seeking a Museum Director with an interest in learning about and sharing Callaway history, an ability to work with the public, colleagues, and volunteers, and experience in management.
Benefits
This is a part-time position (26.5 hours per week, 9:45-4:15 Tuesday-Friday, plus 4.5 hours every first Saturday of the month) with no retirement or medical insurance benefits. Compensation will be based on an hourly wage, established annually by the KCHS Board and paid monthly. Entry salary $17 per hour.
Job Responsibilities
The primary location for the coordinator will be the KCHS Museum on Court Street.
Administrative Duties
Coordinate regularly with Research Center Director
Work within annual budget as approved by board; provide financial needs of museum to board for budget planning
Serve on board of directors as ex-officio member and on committees and task forces as appropriate; assist board members as needed
Use Microsoft Word and Excel
Keep membership records up to date and send renewal letters and forms once a month
Send thank you letters in a timely manner for donations of time/money/dues
Act as staff support for special events
Provide customer service
Network with Brick District and Callaway Chamber of Commerce; support downtown marketing efforts
Coordinate Silent Auction, including the acquisition of items, photos, and displays, bidding processes, and notification of winners
Maintain cleaning and office supplies
Keep building clean, make sure sidewalks and entrances are clear
Museum Duties
Maintain and update all permanent, seasonal, and rotating displays, taking particular care in creating a variety that can be enjoyed by many
Update and order items for gift shop
Work with Research Center Director to plan themes for window displays
Schedule and conduct tours of museum
Schedule Triple L (Life Long Learning) sessions
Work as needed during January, when the museum is closed to the public
Volunteer Coordinator
Coordinate volunteer scheduling
Evaluate volunteer staffing needs, seek new volunteers, do interviews and screening, and provide orientation and training as necessary
Assist volunteers as needed on assigned projects
Other duties as assigned
